Esther Bernadette Coonfare, daughter of John and Rose Kozlowski Prostek, was born February 21, 1919, in Milwaukee, Wis. On July 5, 1938, Esther was united in marriage to Gilbert Coonfare in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church, Bennett Senior Dining.
Esther is survived by her daughters, Carole (Robert) Olney of Solon, Iowa, Shirley (Keith) Stidmon of East Moline, Rita Grutzmacher of Davenport, Patricia (Jerry) Whitaker of Salisbury, N.C.; sons, Gilbert (Connie) Coonfare of Andalusia, Ill., Gregory (Mary) Coonfare of Indianapolis, Ind., 22 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Gilbert; daughter, Dorothy Rightsell; sisters, Irene Bonk and Clara Vento; brother, Ervin Prostek. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family or to Davenport Lutheran Home.
Family and friends will greatly miss her sense of humor.

Alexander "Alex" J. Koppa, 88, Wausau, died Apr 20, 2011, at Our House Senior Living, Wausau, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
He was born Sep 7, 1922, in the town of Cassel, son of the late John and Mary (Gorski) Koppa. On Nov 4, 1950, he married Vivian Skarwecki at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. She survives.
Alex served his country in the United States Army Glider Infantry 13th Airborne Division. He started employment at Cities Service as an oil delivery driver, and worked his way up to district manager. He also worked as a district manager for Kerr-McGee, and later worked at the former Wausau Insurance Co.
Alex was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Catholic Order of Foresters. Some of his hobbies included deer hunting, musky fishing, playing cards and going on scenic rides in the car.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Vivian Koppa, Wausau; children, Stephen Koppa, Wausau, Peter (Jackie) Koppa, Stevens Point, and Susan (David) Koppa McClurg, Waukesha; grandchildren, Katie (Brenden) Shallow, Christopher Koppa and Kelsey McClurg; daughter-in-law, Sue Koppa, Tacoma, Wash.; and sister, Caroline Narloch, Wausau.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael; five brothers, Tony, Leo, Ted, Johnny and Eddie Koppa; and three sisters, Agnes Jakabowski, Dorothy Michlig and Margaret Guralski.
